Building highly functional product teams

I also volunteer for Facebook Developer Circles in Lusaka as a co-lead. The circle currently has over 2,000 members. I am also part of a group of people to organise the first ever Developer Conference in Zambia in 2018, which I am part of the organising committee for.

As one of my goals is to help fellow ladies to make strides in the tech scene, I mentor and train members of Asikana Network, an organisation in Zambia helping to bridge the gap between male and female participation in STEM. I am also a co-host for the first Tech podcast in Lusaka called CodeCastZM.

Seeing the amazing work of other ladies in tech like Timnit Gebru - AI enthusiast and Alaina Percival - Women Who Code inspire me to do more than what I am currently doing. I want to be known for helping Zambian ladies and girls to actively engage in Tech.

My parents are also quite an inspiration. They have survived situations that many thought would drown them. And they have always taught me I am capable and I can achieve. My hobbies include playing chess, reading novels, hiking, dancing and taking nature walks. One of my favourite quotes is: “If you are what you eat, you are what you see and hear.” - E.A. Bucchianeri, Brushstrokes of a Gadfly
